We are excited to launch a campaign to raise awareness about the grief experienced by children and teens. Through this campaign, we hope to dispel common myths, provide support for parents and caregivers, share ideas to help kids honour the people in their lives who have died, and give a shout-out to the incredible organizations supporting our youngest grievers.
This education campaign, created in partnership with Hummingbird Centre for Hope, will run on social media through the month of November in commemoration of Children’s Grief Awareness Day on November 19.
How can you get involved?
- Helps us normalize children’s grief by sharing our posts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
- Share a message of hope. Download this butterfly, write a message, take a photo and send it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll compile all the messages and create a video to be shared on Children’s Grief Awareness Day. Photos are due November 13.
At Bereaved Families of Ontario – Midwestern Region, educating the community about grief is an important part of our mission. Through grief literacy initiatives, we normalize the experience, encourage empathy and understanding and create more compassionate communities for all.
