Ideas for memorializing following the death of a child

  • Locket with a picture of the child, or a lock of the child’s hair, or their name engraved on the front/back
  • A Mother’s ring or necklace with the child’s birthstone
  • A lock of hair in a small frame
  • Buying or making a special stocking or ornament to hang during the holiday season
  • Lighting a candle during holidays, birthdays, anniversaries
  • Using a special candle holder for the lighting of candles
  • Framed footprints/handprints with family photos
  • Framed ultrasound pictures
  • Buying or making a memorial box or book to hold keepsakes
  • Donating to a children’s charity (or any cause that is meaningful to you) in your baby’s name
  • Donating something useful (cameras, rocking chair, baby blankets, etc) for the hospital nursery where your baby was born
  • Donating toys, books, or clothes during the holidays or on your child’s anniversary that would be appropriate for the age of your child
