Letter to Chris
So many think that grief has a beginning, a timeline and an expiration date. But for those that have lost a loved one, they know that to be untrue. We will never forget the memories with our loved one. We can never break the bond with our loved one. We will never stop loving our loved one. And although they are not physically here with us, they are still present in our hearts and forever will be apart of us. This is what makes grief a life long journey.
This bereaved mother composed this letter to her son Chris on October 9,2013 on the 3rd anniversary of his death. It is to let everyone know that all though he is gone he is with her always in the smiles, actions, personalities and laughter of her other 4 children. This beautiful letter shows how love does not end with death which as previously stated is the reason behind why grief is a journey.
I see you in the early morning sunrise that glistens on the dew.
I see you at night when I look up to Heaven and gaze at the stars that shine.
I see you in Nicki’s adventurous spirit and unique personality, you two are more alike than you’ll ever know!
I see you in the twinkle in Vanessa’s eyes… especially when she talks about James and their baby on the way!
I see you in Jack’s wonderful, wickedly handsome smile that lights up the room!
I see you in Bradley’s charming, quiet , gentle ways… he is so much like you!
And I see you in the look your dad gives each of us when we are all together…. gentle but serious!
I hear you in the early morning birds that chirp outside my window.
I hear you when Jack hollers “MOM”.
I hear you when Bradley says a quiet “Hello”
And I hear your laughter every time I hear Nicki and Vanessa’s.
I feel you in the gentle breeze blowing across my face and I wonder … perhaps it’s you letting me know you are near by.
I feel you in the rain drops landing on my cheeks…or are they just my tears?
Most of all I feel you in my heart… every moment of every hour of every day…. Always and Forever.
Mom
In loving memory:
