Parents Grieving the Death of a Child

This is an 8 Week Program which runs twice a year – in the spring and fall, however we accept registrations year round.

Your child is your child no matter how young or old they are.

This group is for parents who have experienced the death of a child from 3 years of age and up, including adult children.

Every parent expects their child to outlive them. No matter their age, the death of a child can turn your whole life upside down.

Our 8 week program offers a safe space to connect with other grieving parents, to share your story and to support one another through your loss.

All of our groups are run by trained volunteers who are bereaved parents themselves. Everyone in the room has experienced the death of their child. You are not alone.

Our sessions include group discussion and theme-specific activities that explore different aspects of grief, such as:

  • The grief process
  • Coping with special days
  • Diversity in grief
  • Changing relationships
  • Returning to work

There is no right way to grieve, there is only your way to grieve. Through our support groups, we hope that you will experience personal growth and lean new tools for adapting to your new normal.

If you would like to register for this group, please fill out the registration form below and click send. Your information will remain confidential. Before submitting your registration, please carefully read over the Group Guidelines and the Explanation of Peer Support & Privacy Statement. These documents outline how our groups are organized and gives you information on the peer-support model Bereaved Families of Ontario-Midwestern Region uses.

By clicking the check-box below, I give permission for Bereaved Families of Ontario – Midwestern Region (BFO-MR) to share the above information with their staff and volunteers who are directly involved in the support program for which I/my family is/are registering. I understand that BFO-MR offers self-help mutual-aid support programs and does not offer professional counselling. I have been provided with and have read the BFO-MR “Cautions Regarding Self-Help Information & Privacy Statement” linked at the top of this page.
